Smile Candy Bar cookies

This was a great recipe to use with all the left over Halloween candy I had. I may now need to use it with the Valentine candy! The kids had fun, breaking up the candy bars (and eating them too!) Enjoy

Servings: 36 cookies

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate-covered candy bars, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
Directions:

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In a large bowl using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar on medium speed until the mixture looks fluffy and smooth, about 30 seconds.

Blend the egg and vanilla extract into the butter mixture. Stop the mixer and scrape the bowl with a rubber spatula once during this mixing. Decrease the speed to low and add the flour mixture, mixing just until the flour is incorporated. Gently mix in the candy bar pieces.

Drop the batter by large tablespoons onto baking sheets. Bake for approximately 8 minutes, watching to prevent burning. Remove while warm to prevent sticking, and cool on wire racks.
