3" Wooden heart, circle, or any other shape you may desire
12" Wooden dowel
Acrylic paint in your choice of colors (Antique white looks best with a contrasting color of your choice)
Crackle medium
Craft pens
Material scraps or ribbons
White craft glue (Tacky glue)
Matte finish sealer paint

Apply a basecoat to the wooden shape of your choice and the dowel (You can either use the antique white or a darker color depending on the look you want... this basecoat is the color that will show through the crackle finish). Allow the basecoat to dry completely. Apply the crackle medium to the shape and NOT the dowel. Allow this to dry for 15-25 minutes, until tacky, but not completely dry. Next, apply a medium coat of your contrasting color. DO NOT OVER BRUSH... One or two strokes is enough. Let dry. The crackle will begin to work within a few minutes.

Once they are completely dry, you can use a craft pen to draw small hearts, patches or stitch marks on the outer edges of your shapes. Also use the pens to write the name of the herb, vegetable, fruit or just about anything you fancy, on the front center of the shape.

When dry, glue the dowel on the back of the shape. Tie either a scrap of fabric or a ribbon around the dowel below the shape you have chosen. Apply 2 coats of matte finish sealer spray, allowing 15 minutes between coats.
