We use a toilet paper cardboard roll or a papertowel cardboard roll and smear peanut butter on it then roll it in birdseed that is in a shallow pan (place remaining birdseed outside for them to enjoy). My 2 year old loves to do these because they are very simple, they recycle the cardboard rolls and they help feed the birdies during the winter months. I should also say I poke two holes across from each other at the top of the cardboard roll and loop yard through them to make the hanging loop.
Very simple craft but very good for the environment!
My daughter made a birdfeeder in preschool with a pine cone. They smeared peanut butter all over the pine cone and then rolled it around in birdseed, tied a string around it and we put it outside for the bords to enjoy. It was so cute! Just thought I would pass that idea along as well. Thanks!
